NATIONAL GRANTS TO ATTEND GOLD COAST CONFERENCE 2009

GOLD COAST SEPTEMBER 3rd TO 6th

The National Board will again be making available grants to Branches, to encourage greater participation at the National Conference, which will be held at Greenmount Beach Resort, Eden Avenue, Coolangatta, Queensland.

Criteria for selection of successful applicants will favour branches that apply to assist tutors or trainees who have not previously attended a National Conference

Other factors that will influence the selection will be the financial and other assets of the branch.

Grants will be for amounts of up to $300 to Branches or Groups which have over 100 members, or up to $500 to Branches or Groups which have fewer than 100 members.   The total amount to be made available will be no more than $5000

Branches applying for such a grant are asked to make a written submission to support their applications, detailing how the subsidizing of their candidates would benefit the development of Better Hearing Australia, and how much the branch was prepared to contribute.

Applications are to be submitted to JOHN STEEL - VICE PRESIDENT, FINANCE, no later than two months before the Conference i.e. July 3rd and be accompanied by a copy of the Branch’s last Annual Report and Financial Statement.

Early applications will receive favourable attention.

The decision to make a grant will be made by a committee of three members of the Board. Grants will be at the sole discretion of the Board.

Recieved an email asking for help in compiing statistics for Hearing Aid users from Australia

Dear colleagues at Better Hearing Australia,

The non-profit organization hear-it is currently conducting an international online survey

in order to increase the general knowledge of what it is like to be hearing impaired.

Hearing impaired people as well as organisation working for hearing impaired may

benefit from the knowledge resulting from the survey. To ensure the validity of the

survey results it is important that we obtain a large number of responses.

That is why we are contacting you, hoping that you will find it possible to encourage

the members of your group to participate in the survey. You may for instance

be willing to include information about the survey in your news update.

The survey is located in the following page: http://hear-it.org/page.dsp?page=6334

We would greatly appreciate your help in gathering statistical data.

The survey will remain available online for at least another four weeks.

 Kind regards,

 Charlotte Albrechtsen
