Better Hearing Australia is a charitable self help organisation which had its beginning in 1932
Better Hearing Australia Inc. is controlled by the Better Hearing Council, which is made up of representatives of the Better Hearing Branches. There are Branches of Better Hearing in all Australian States. The Council meets at its Annual General Meeting and Conference where it discusses current issues, conducts training sessions and decides on the way ahead.
The National magazine is produced quarterly by the National Editor and distributed to all members and associated organizations.
Branches are controlled and run by Committees of Management with assistance from members and support staff, and Government funding, if available.
The members of Better Hearing are mostly hard of hearing people who join the organization to learn how to better handle their hearing loss, and equipment such as hearing aids, via the Hearing Loss Management groups and individual assistance. Many cochlear implantees are members of Better Hearing.
